Continuing its meetings with African communities in Côte d'Ivoire, the delegation of the Ivorian Bureau for the Promotion of African Integration (BIPIA) was welcomed by the Cameroonian community this Wednesday. The delegation, led by Mr. Missa SORO, Head of the Projects Department, was accompanied by Mrs. KONE Mariame, Head of Communication and Awareness Services, and Mr. POHEGNAN AIME, in charge of digital communication. Upon their arrival, they were greeted by President Wendji Jacques, surrounded by members of the executive board and several presidents of affiliated Cameroonian communities spread across various districts of Abidjan.
This meeting, under the theme of integration, aimed to strengthen collaboration between BIPIA and African communities living in Côte d'Ivoire.
In his opening speech, Mr. Missa SORO reminded attendees of BIPIA's mission, highlighting its role as a bridge between Ivorian authorities and African nationals. He also emphasized BIPIA's commitment to promoting African integration through concrete actions aimed at fostering greater social cohesion between African communities and Ivorian society.
President Wendji Jacques praised this initiative and expressed, on behalf of the Cameroonian community, his gratitude for BIPIA's ongoing support, particularly during the organization of the "Retrouvailles," a key event for the Cameroonian diaspora. However, leaders of the various Cameroonian associations present took the opportunity to share some of the challenges they face.
In response, Mr. Missa SORO congratulated the presidents for their spirit of unity and presented a flagship project of BIPIA: the creation of a federation bringing together the communities of Central African States, similar to the Union of Nationals of ECOWAS Member States (UREM ECOWAS). This idea was enthusiastically received by the Cameroonian community, who requested BIPIA's support to successfully carry out this initiative aimed at strengthening regional integration.
This meeting thus marks a renewed commitment by BIPIA to address the needs of African communities while promoting a broader and more inclusive framework for integration.
